Field Work

IMG_0826Small Mammal Surveys:

Surveys of the small mammal population establish local and regional diversity, abundance, and temporal fluctuations in diversity metrics.

Fossil Excavation:  The fossil record tells us how species respond to environmental change over long periods of time.  Long-term records of small mammal diversity also give perspective on short-term (years to decades) fluctuation in these species. I study deposits accumulated by wood rats, owls and raptors, and mammalian carnivores.
