Teaching

Courses:

Vertebrate Skeletal Morphology Lab: Students become experts on the vertebrate skeleton, including fish, reptiles, amphibians, birds, and mammals. We discuss skeletal homology and analogy, biomechanics of the skeletal system, and evolution of the vertebrates.

Evolution and Ecology and Mammal Teeth:
What can we learn about an animal’s lifestyle from its teeth? With a wide range of specimens at hand, we discuss the relationship between tooth morphology and diet, body size, and predator-prey relationships. We discuss the structure of teeth and the properties of enamel and dentin; evolution of mammal teeth beginning with the tribosphenic molar; and homology and analogy, comparing teeth from disparate taxonomic groups
Intro Bio Lab:
